Health regulation

A valid yellow-fever certificate is mandatory for all individuals (including infants) who have been or were in transit in Africa, South Africa or Papua New Guinea six days prior to their arrival in India. The certificate becomes valid 10 days after vaccination. India does not require immunization against small pox or cholera.

Visitors are generally required to make a verbal identification of their baggage and declare foreign currency in excess of $10,000.

Please keep in mind that Delhi is typically very cold in February. It is also one of the best times to travel in north India. Day temperatures range from 16 – 22 °C. Nights are cooler, with the temperatures dipping to 7 – 12 °C. Usually, there are no rains during this season; though unexpected brief showers cannot be ruled out.

India’s currency unit is the rupee (INR), divided into 100 paisa (p). Delegates can convert foreign exchange into Indian rupees or vice versa at their hotels.

In India voltage is 220 V, 50 Hz. Round pins (2 or 3) can fit in the power sockets. Adapters are generally available at all hotels, however we recommend acquiring one before travel to allow for convenient charging upon arrival.

Taxis are on call round-the-clock in Delhi. Air-conditioned (AC) Radio taxis may be called by dialling +91-11-43434343 or +91-11-44224422. These taxis have a flat charge per kilometre travelled, and are available at the both the international and domestic terminals of the airport. In addition, there are prepaid taxi counters at the airport for travelling to any part of the city. We advise that hiring private cars and unlicensed taxis must be done with caution and is not recommended for delegates.
